Advocate Children’s Hospital Oak Lawn IL Music Therapy Internship

Advocate Children’s Hospital Oak Lawn Illinois music therapy internship provides services to children and young adults of all ages and stages of development in central Illinois. These include individual and group music therapy sessions, voice/piano/guitar lessons, as well as early childhood music classes.

Katey Kratz, MT-BC (born and raised in Channahon, IL) was immersed in music from an early age; taking guitar and voice lessons, performing, competing. Upon earning her Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Western Illinois University, she was honored with both summa cum laude honoris college scholar status.

Sheridan Grettenberger, MM, MT-BC joined the music therapy team at Lurie Children’s in 2018 after completing her internship here. She primarily works with patients in the inpatient hematology/oncology unit, pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Her approaches range from music-centered to strengths-based to improvisational to patient-led.

Molly Grettenberger, MM, PT-BC (born and raised in Chicago) graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in music therapy in 2022. Since then she has worked in therapeutic day schools, an internship at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, and a clinical setting focusing on older adults.

Elisabeth Bombell, MT-BC (born and raised Chicago), has advanced training in both NICU Music Therapy and Rhythm, Breath and Lullaby. After completing her internship at Advocate Children’s Hospital Oak Lawn in 2021, she joined the music therapy team there using a holistic approach with patients’ and families’ favorite songs as she creates highly individualized interventions using various approaches to promote comfort, develop developmental, physical and expressive goals and foster healing.

Emma Harmon, MT-BC (born and raised Elgin, IL) earned her bachelor’s degree in music therapy at Western Illinois University where she earned the distinctions of summa cum laude and school of music department scholar. Her experience extends across various musical genres such as classical ensembles, vocal jazz, and church music.

Mackenzie Robitaille, MT-BC (born and raised Winsted, CT) has been practicing music therapy for over 15 years. With an extensive background in teaching music to individuals of all ages and abilities, she has a special interest in working with children and adolescents with Autism, intellectual disabilities, as well as adults suffering from mental illnesses.

Jessica Smith (B.S., MT-BC; born and raised Springfield, IL) earned her bachelor’s degree in music therapy from the University of Evansville where she also served as principal flute for their Concert Band and Wind Ensemble. She is delighted to be working at Music Therapy Connections where she can share her talents with kids and families within a supportive atmosphere.

Matt Mifflin (BS, MT-BC; born in Springfield) has been a musician all of his life and loves teaching music to students of all ages and levels of ability. With extensive experience on piano, acoustic and electric guitar, as well as enthusiasm for creating an enjoyable learning atmosphere for all, he’s passionate about sharing music education with others.
