Alternating Electric Field Therapy Definition

Alternating Electric Field Therapy (AEFT) is a non-invasive, low-intensity electromagnetic field treatment that has been clinically proven to inhibit tumor growth in patients with glioblastoma multiforme. This method utilizes alternating electric fields to pulse through the scalp and disrupt cell cycle or cause cell death, ultimately stopping the tumor from expanding too rapidly.

Recurrent glioblastoma patients now have an alternative to chemotherapy that is both safe and effective. With fewer side effects than chemotherapy, it may even extend patients’ lives.

Electromagnetic field therapy works by allowing positive charges into cells through open ion channels, creating electrical currents which can then be converted into action potentials – short electrical bursts.

This therapy has been utilized to treat a range of conditions, such as arthritis, back pain, migraines and sciatica. Additionally, it may increase range of motion after surgery or reduce inflammation.

Electro Stimulation therapies can be administered in a variety of settings, such as at home or the office and often involve physical therapy. During the procedure, the patient lies on a treatment table with four electrodes placed on areas of pain to encourage natural healing processes and increase circulation to affected areas.

Chiropractors and other health care professionals often administer this therapy. It is a safe, non-invasive solution that has been scientifically proven to relieve pain, stimulate cellular activity, and improve circulation in areas of injury or discomfort.

Fibromyalgia, chronic pain and joint stiffness associated with arthritis are highly treatable conditions that can also be used to alleviate discomfort from other ailments like muscle sprains or spasms.

Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEF therapy) is an increasingly popular, non-toxic alternative to pain relief medicines like paracetamol and ibuprofen that usually has no side effects. As a safe, non-invasive alternative to medications, PEF therapy has the potential to extend patients’ lives and promote better health.

Studies have demonstrated that an alternating electric field can stimulate nitric acid release from cells. This nitric acid has anti-inflammatory effects and improves circulation and cellular functioning, as well as strengthening the immune system to fight diseases and illnesses more effectively.

A study on tumour treating fields (TTFields) demonstrates they can inhibit brain tumor growth. TTFields are low-intensity, intermediate frequency alternating electric fields applied directly onto tumor volumes through a non-invasive transducer electrode array.

TTFields have been demonstrated to inhibit the formation of the mitotic spindle apparatus and cytokinesis, reduce cell size and spread in human glioblastoma cell lines, as well as interfere with certain hormone production – potentially helping prevent recurrences.
