Alternative Migraine Light Therapy

Green light is a non-invasive therapy that may help alleviate the pain and symptoms associated with migraine.

Migraines are a chronic disorder that causes intense headaches and other symptoms like nausea, vomiting, dizziness and light sensitivity. There are various treatments for migraines including medication, lifestyle changes, acupuncture and more; some people even try alternative migraine therapies like light therapy.

Many people suffer from migraines due to a variety of reasons, including stress, fatigue, sleep disturbance and environmental conditions. One common trigger for migraines is exposure to bright lights such as those found on computers or in restaurants.

Blue light can also intensify a migraine attack. Sources such as sunlight, smartphones, computer monitors, flat screen TVs and LED lights all emit blue light with relatively short wavelengths that stimulate photoreceptors in the brain and cause pain.

Researchers have discovered that exposing migraine patients to narrow bands of green light significantly reduces pain and can enhance quality of life.

Researchers from the University of Arizona Health Sciences conducted a study with 29 migraine patients that exposed them to green light for one to two hours daily for 10 weeks, and observed that both pain and frequency of migraine attacks were reduced.

This study is the latest in a line of studies that have demonstrated the benefits of green light for migraine prevention and treatment. In 2016, Harvard Medical School researchers reported that green light, often seen as an element in nature, was less likely to aggravate migraines compared to other colors and could even lessen their severity.

Research suggests that light therapy may be beneficial for migraine patients with sleep disturbances and should be included as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

If you would like to try this therapy, an Allay Light is required that emits a narrow band of green light. You can purchase one on Allay’s website for $30.

The Allay Lamp utilizes a special type of light that replicates the natural green spectrum, known to be calming and capable of relieving migraine symptoms. This non-pharmacological approach to managing migraines offers an innovative and exciting new option.

Utilizing the Allay Lamp is a breeze. Place it in your bedroom, office, or any other location where you spend a lot of time.

When using the Allay Lamp, you are exposed to a natural, calming green spectrum which can help alleviate migraine and photophobia symptoms. For optimal results, ensure you use it in a quiet space where there is no other light present; then enjoy your daily dose of green light in peace and serenity!

For optimal results, use the Allay Lamp for 20 to 30 minutes at a time and adjust dosage as necessary. In certain circumstances, this device may be covered by flexible spending accounts (FSAs), health savings accounts (HSAs), and insurance plans.
