EMDR 4 Day Intensive Therapy For Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Trauma or PTSD can take time to heal, leaving symptoms behind. EMDR intensive therapy offers you an opportunity to process traumatic events more rapidly than traditional weekly sessions and can significantly reduce healing time.

Intensives are available for those who may not be ready or able to commit to the typical weekly therapy schedule and desire a more intensive approach. During an intensive, individuals work with their therapist for one-5 days and focus on areas of their lives that need healing and growth.

The advantages of an EMDR Intensive are plentiful and include: 1. Increased efficacy in processing traumatic events2. Faster healing 3. Greater satisfaction with therapy4. Immediate improvements to work performance, relationships, parenting and overall well-being5. Enhanced self-management 6. EMDR has been scientifically proven effective at treating PTSD and anxiety disorders such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Our EMDR Intensives utilize Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to facilitate rapid healing from trauma. In an EMDRIA-Approved Intensive format, clients meet for several hours daily over multiple days in close succession for maximum growth and healing.

Intensive therapy offers a shorter waiting period for admission than the traditional weekly format, making it especially advantageous to veterans and other clients who may not have access to regular outpatient treatment due to limited schedules or other circumstances.

Patients who wish to focus on a specific issue or part of their treatment can find this approach advantageous, as it offers a concentrated and focused approach that is more efficient and targeted than weekly therapy.

Another advantage of an EMDR Intensive is that it can accelerate the healing process for chronic and complex traumas. This type of therapy may be especially helpful for individuals with extensive histories of trauma events as well as those experiencing ongoing distress or relapses of symptoms.

At the start of each Intensive session, participants complete a comprehensive intake interview with an EMDR therapist. The data gathered during this first conversation serves to inform each session’s treatment plan.

In addition to an EMDR therapy session, the Intensive format also includes supportive counseling and activities designed to re-train the nervous system. These can include massage therapy, yoga classes, nature hikes or other local activities designed to promote wellness and relaxation in the brain.

After each session, we offer a follow-up appointment to assess how your EMDR treatment is progressing and answer any queries. At this time, we may suggest additional therapy appointments or other support resources in order to guarantee that you are making progress towards your objectives.

In addition to the EMDR therapy sessions, participants receive an optional workbook that can be utilized before, during and after the Intensive to further enhance the therapeutic experience. This is a fantastic resource for clients during this intensive as it will help them prepare for each session while maximizing the efficiency of EMDR treatment.
