Holistic Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is a health profession that helps individuals enhance their capacity to carry out everyday activities. It can provide relief from physical conditions, mental health issues and learning disabilities alike.

Exercise can also help combat social isolation and make it easier to get out of the house, which is essential for many. To achieve this goal, exercise programs and equipment should be introduced so you can keep moving while maintaining your independence.

Holistic OT is a form of therapy that seeks to support the body’s natural ability to heal and balance itself through techniques like yoga, meditation, massage, reflexology and acupuncture. In some cases, these therapies may be combined together for maximum effect.

A holistic approach to occupational therapy is ideal for clients suffering from conditions like arthritis or chronic pain, as well as those recovering from illness or injury. It helps build patient confidence and promote physical, psychological and emotional healing.

Occupational therapists work with people of all ages and backgrounds to give them the skills needed for independence and enjoyment in life. They are educated to identify difficulties you may be having and suggest solutions, such as altering your environment or trying a different approach.

If you are struggling with daily tasks, it is wise to consult an occupational therapist as soon as possible. In many cases, these issues can be solved quickly; however, it’s always better to reach out sooner rather than later.

Your occupational therapist will ask about your lifestyle and daily activities in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of your specific situation. This will enable them to create an individualized treatment program that works best for you.

Your occupational therapist will strive to motivate and inspire you during treatment sessions to partake in activities that are meaningful to you. This could range from cooking and painting to hiking and taking holidays. Make sure you invest your time and effort into these things; doing so will give you a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Your occupational therapist can teach you how to take care of yourself, so that you can remain active and live life to the fullest. For instance, if you have trouble walking or sitting down for extended periods, they will demonstrate how to use special equipment like walking aids and specialist chairs. Furthermore, they may suggest exercises designed to increase strength and endurance so that more of what interests you can be done.

NAU’s OT degree is accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), providing you with all of the tools and resources to pursue your ambition of becoming an occupational therapist.
