What does a sound bath do?

Helen Lavretsky said that sound healing and music therapy have become increasingly popular because they are easy to perform. People with a mental illness should talk to a doctor before taking a sound bath, as these can be intense experiences that can cause both pleasant and unpleasant feelings. As sound therapist and meditation teacher Sara Auster explains to mbg, sound baths offer an immersive full-body listening experience that can bring balance, relaxation and a sense of calm to your entire being. A sound bath is usually a way to manage anxiety, calm the nervous system, and banish all ideas and thoughts from your awareness as you connect with your body.

Do recorded sound baths work?

According to sound specialist Monte Hansen, sound baths are an “immersion in sound frequency that purifies the soul. A sound bath is a meditative experience in which a group of people lie down and listen to resonant sounds. If you’re still not sure if this is for you, try listening to publicly recorded sound baths before you experience a live session. Do this in a quiet place and try to let your mind relax in the process. Only a few studies have examined sound baths or the use of singing bowls, but what exists suggests that the practice may offer some health benefits.

However, research has found that sound baths may actually be more effective than other forms of meditation in treating chronic stress and anxiety.
