Are sound baths good for you?

By trying out

different experiences and practitioners, or experimenting yourself, you can assess how effective a sound bath is for the way you think. A sound bath session can result in less anxiety, tension, and sadness, as well as less pain. According to a study, soothing, reverberating sounds of traditional wind and percussion instruments, also known as “sound baths,” can help with symptoms of stress, fatigue, and depression. According to Lavretsky, this is because certain sounds activate the parasympathetic nervous system, the part of the body that regulates rest, causing muscles to relax, slow breathing, and lower blood pressure and heart rate.

Sound baths can also take place in various rooms, from museums and music festivals to meditation centers, says Sara Auster, sound therapist and meditation teacher who offers sound bath training using the Auster Sound Method.
