Hakomi is a form of somatic therapy that emphasizes mindfulness and nonviolence. It has its roots in Hopi Native American culture and its philosophy of living without violence.

The success of a somatic therapy session relies on you and your therapist creating an atmosphere where you feel safe enough to explore and process pain from a traumatic event. It can be an emotionally draining process, so be prepared to share painful experiences and feelings with them.
