Music Therapy at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital
Music Therapy is a legitimate clinical and evidence-based practice that utilizes music to enhance health and well-being in various ways. Unlike traditional treatments that often focus on symptoms of illness and pain, music therapy uses music to lift moods, reduce stress and anxiety in patients of all ages and medical conditions. Furthermore, it creates an engaging experience for patients, families and caregivers alike.
At the University of Minnesota’s Masonic Children’s Hospital, we offer the nation’s largest music therapy program in a cutting-edge setting. Our faculty and students possess an array of expertise and programs that span across psychology, pediatrics, neuroscience, surgery, ophthalmology, gastroenterology and psychiatry. Additionally, they can draw upon resources from many other departments including psychology, pediatrics neuroscience surgery ophthalmology gastroenterology psychiatry.
We also have an abundance of student-run groups and interest-based clubs that give students the chance to explore a wide variety of topics.
