Nature Sound Healing

Nature sound healing is a type of therapy based on the principle that everything in the universe is vibrating energy. It is used to restore balance to the physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies. Sound is also used to boost the immune system.

Several studies have been conducted to study the effects of nature sounds on health. Scientists have found that time in nature improves mood, alleviates pain, and reduces stress.

The first recorded use of sound as medicine was by Pythagoras, the “father of music.” He discovered that harmonic frequencies could cure mental disorders. Ancient Egyptians believed that musical incantations could heal illnesses.

Today, sound therapy has been studied in both the lab and the hospital setting. One study of nature sounds in cancer patients revealed that they reduced pain and anxiety.

Another study investigated the effects of music on critical patients. Researchers used recordings of bird calls, water noises, and human noises. In each case, participants experienced an increase in relaxation and restoration.

Similarly, a study of nature sound music used in the ICU showed that it decreased anxiety. Among participants with high sympathetic responses, the biggest relaxation benefits came from a clip of nature.

Finally, the ancient Indian practice of nada yoga uses sound vibrations to reduce stress. However, not all types of sound therapy have been well-researched.

Although the study may not be the most definitive of the many studies on nature sound healing, it is a valuable start. Buxton and her team plan to continue studying the effects of these sounds on health.
