Their staff includes licensed clinical mental health professionals, social workers and nurses specially trained in working with those suffering from emotional or behavioral disorders and addictions.
The Oasis team has decades of experience treating those suffering from mental illness, PTSD and other psychological difficulties. They use a holistic approach to help their patients find success both during therapy and beyond it.
Psychotherapy is the process of helping individuals recognize and alter behaviors or thoughts that are causing them distress, pain or difficulty. This can be accomplished in various ways such as individual, group and family therapy.
Therapeutic treatments often draw upon cognitive behavioral principles, where clients learn new coping skills, improve their capacity for emotion regulation and alter negative behavioral patterns. These approaches can be employed in order to address a range of issues from depression and anxiety to eating disorders and substance use.
Psychotherapy is a common type of therapy that involves discussing emotions and their connection to past experiences with a therapist. This can be especially helpful when someone has suffered trauma such as child abuse, domestic violence, the loss of one or both parents at an early age, or other issues which are impacting their current mental state.
Counselors can meet with patients in a variety of settings, such as inpatient, outpatient and online. Some specialize in certain fields like drug or alcohol counseling while others possess more general mental health training that enables them to work with various clients.
The Oasis team can refer patients to other psychiatric services, such as psychiatrist or psychologist. Furthermore, they offer support and advocacy services for both patients and their families.
Many counselors at Oasis have specialized in working with teens, such as Cassandra Chapman who graduated from Marshall University with her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling in 2017. She is a member of both the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Counselors and American Counseling Association; additionally, she holds a certificate in peer recovery coaching and is certified to teach mindfulness techniques.
Shawn Cade, another Oasis counselor, is a graduate of West Virginia University with over 15 years of professional experience in private practice psychotherapy. Additionally, he has been trained in the Gottman approach to couples counseling which emphasizes mutual understanding and cooperation among partners.
The Oasis team is excited to serve the Coachella Valley community with their new facility located on the east end of town. Here, children, adolescents and their families can access mental health and counseling services that have been long-needed in this region.
