Somatic experiencing therapy is an effective solution to address physical symptoms caused by trauma. It consists of various techniques designed to assist clients in developing healthier coping skills and understanding how their bodies react when faced with stressors. Thus, Somatic Experiencing is also known as “body-centered” therapy.

Somatic experiencing therapy, developed by Peter A. Levine, helps alleviate mental health issues such as PTSD, anxiety and trauma by focusing on the body’s capacity to regulate its response to stress or traumatic experiences. It has applications across several disciplines such as psychotherapy, medicine physical therapy and teaching.

Hands-on techniques are employed to access areas within the brain that may be holding unwanted programming, such as beliefs, emotions and thoughts that no longer serve a person’s wellbeing. These approaches provide a safe, gentle and non-invasive means of releasing these stuck energies and facilitating change.
