University of Puget Sound Physical Therapy Program

The University of Puget Sound Physical Therapy program is a graduate-level program that prepares graduates to become independent practitioners. They work with other health care professionals to provide physical therapy to patients. Their goal is to create interventions that restore function and minimize disability. This includes working with people with spinal cord injury and cancer, as well as patients with developmental and neurological disorders.

Puget Sound Physical Therapy programs emphasize evidence-based practice and research. Students in these programs also receive personal attention from faculty members who are committed to teaching.

Students benefit from small classes and extensive clinical experiences. In addition, professors spend a significant amount of time mentoring students.

The University of Puget Sound offers more than 40 traditional fields of study. Students are prepared to become compassionate, critical thinkers. Graduates of this school include entrepreneurs, leaders in business, artists, and Rhodes scholars.

Puget Sound Physical Therapy program requires students to complete two semesters of full-time clinical experience. These clinical experiences are conducted under the supervision of licensed physical therapists. A third year of studies is dedicated to advanced clinical electives in specialty areas.

The School of Physical Therapy at Puget Sound has an on-site clinic that provides direct access free physical therapy services to the community. The clinic accepts referrals from health care providers.

Physical therapists evaluate patients and develop and implement interventions that maximize function. These treatments are designed to treat patients with various diagnoses, including spinal cord injury, arthritis, and cerebral palsy.
