Music Therapy Club at University of Nevada, Reno
The music therapy club of the University of Nevada, Reno takes music to senior care facilities like Sierra Manor and Brookdale Northwest. Composed of music majors and minors, members play timeless classic tunes that bring smiles to seniors’ faces. It’s an experience that leaves many students in awe and motivates them to continue making a positive difference in people’s lives.
Music therapy services are reimbursed through Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) benefits, which are available from most health insurers. To be reimbursed, services must meet the same criteria as other reimbursable therapies like occupational therapy or physical therapy and provide an assessment and goal-directed documented treatment plan for the client. All these factors and more are outlined in HCPCS code G0176 which applies to music therapy services.
