A nutritious, balanced eating plan can help ensure that you get enough essential nutrients to maintain optimal health or manage health conditions. The most common eating disorders, such as anorexia, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating, affect up to 30 million people in the United States. If you have an eating disorder, you regularly overeat (binge eating) and feel that you can’t control your eating habits. Eating disorders fall on a spectrum between normal eating and an eating disorder and may include eating disorder symptoms and behaviors, but with less frequency or severity.

Bulimia (boo-lee-me-uh) nervosa, commonly called bulimia, is a severe, potentially life-threatening eating disorder.
