What Hz should singing bowls have?

Carolyn Bremer from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music in Cal State, Long Beach, is developing a program to record the individual frequencies in singing bowls. In the earliest days, bowl manufacturers tuned the bowls to specific frequencies by applying so-called hatches to the walls of the bowl they made. Unlike hitting, a Tibetan bowl continues to sound when played on the edge, even if you stop playing the bowl. Singing bowls have a frequency range between 110 Hz and 660 Hz, but can range up to 800 or even 900 Hz.

Jeff Thompson, the harmony of a singing bowl is created by the angle or graded circumference of the bowl.
