What is a sound bath massage?

The experience starts with each person lying down or sitting in a comfortable position, often with a blanket and an eye mask. The light was off and the room in which the sound bath was held smelled of incense sandalwood, I think. It’s basically a therapeutic and meditative experience where you “bathe” in the sounds and vibrations produced by various instruments such as gongs, tuning forks, and crystal bowls. At the end of a session, your doctor will guide you back to a sense of awareness before you finish the sound bath and wish you all the best for your journey.

From time to time, the smell of burning incense and chimes interrupted the sound of the bowls echoing around the room and I remembered where I was and what I was doing.

They are often used to reduce stress, but sound baths can be used for many purposes, including to induce sleep, relax, increase creativity, and spiritual development. A sound bath is usually a way to manage anxiety, calm the nervous system, and banish all ideas and thoughts from your awareness as you connect with your body. Sound bathing (sometimes called sound meditation or sound therapy) is the practice of mindfully listening to various sounds that help relax the body and mind. Some musicians use sound-healing instruments alone, while others combine them to create complex and fascinating soundscapes and an immersive sound experience.
