What Is Chelation Therapy?

Chelation therapy is a therapeutic procedure that removes toxic metals from the body. It has the potential to prevent or slow the onset of various illnesses caused by toxic buildup in the bloodstream.

Mercury, lead, arsenic and other toxic metals from the bloodstream. Furthermore, it helps the body excrete these substances through urine excretion.

Chelation therapy involves administering drugs known as chelating agents to attach to and eliminate toxic elements in your body. These are usually injected into an arm through an IV tube and work by binding with heavy metals already present in the bloodstream.

Some chelating agents are more effective at eliminating certain metals than others, so your doctor will first check your blood for toxic metals before administering any chelating medication.

Chelation therapy is a potent drug, so it should only be administered to those diagnosed with metal poisoning. Unfortunately, they may lead to serious side effects like low calcium levels in the blood and kidney damage.

Chelation therapy should never be used for anything other than metal poisoning and has not yet been approved by the FDA. It hasn’t been shown to help with conditions like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stroke or fibromyalgia.

To minimize these risks, it’s best to see a qualified physician for IV chelation treatment. Buying products from online vendors or treating yourself at home with unqualified practitioners can be dangerous and even deadly.
