VST Certification Course Relaxing through calming sounds and vibrations affects your body at a cellular level, opening up the flow of energy to get you back into healthy alignment. The sound frequency and vibrations stimulate the brain and vagus nervous system. When your body and mind are relaxed, the brain releases positive chemicals (dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphins), and a higher mood ensures that your body regulates blood sugar levels better, reducing the chance of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The healing modules, such as vibrational sound therapy and energy medicine, all work to destroy the surface and the depth and allow the energy to move. Vibrational Sound Therapy is a 50-minute private session* and can be reserved with Susan Gwaltney in the Sound Healing class.

What is vibrational sound therapy?

Vibrational sound therapy can bring body, mind and soul back into harmony and thus promote relaxation, healing and well-being. Roxie Sarhangi, a certified sound healing practitioner based in Los Angeles, describes it as a meditative acoustic sound concert. Research has shown that vibrational sound healing is an effective tool in treating addiction, pain, sleep, anxiety, trauma, and depression. It was a completely immersive experience in which my entire body was activated by vibrating body plates and headphones.

The bowls are placed on cushions and gently placed on and around the body while the mallets are used to create the vibrations.

What is vibration in sound?

When a sound source vibrates, it produces sound energy, which spreads through the medium through particle disturbances and transmits the sound effectively. When sound waves travel through the air, each air molecule vibrates back and forth and hits the air molecule next to it, which then also vibrates back and forth. The number of oscillations per second is referred to as frequency, measured in Hertz (1 Hz %3D 1 oscillation per second). These collide with other particles, causing them to vibrate so that the sound can travel away from the source.
