What sound does a singing bowl make?

The bowl is then either sandcast or hammered, shaped and then polished before it can be etched into designs. The sounds that the singing bowls produce are intended to generate a kind of energy that can center the frequencies of body, mind and soul. Singing bowls originated in Mesopotamia over 5,000 years ago and reached the regions of Tibet, Nepal and India, all of which have singing bowls in their history and culture that date back around 2,000 years. An idiophone is a musical instrument that, when struck, shaken, or scraped, produces a sound through vibration.

Singing bowls are still made in these regions of the world today, and both the craft and the spiritual components are closely linked to culture and tradition.
