What is This Therapy Based?

Therapeutic touch is a noninvasive energy healing technique that utilizes the hands to encourage the body’s inherent ability to heal itself. It relies on the idea that all humans possess this inherent healing capacity and can help others do the same, making it an effective alternative therapy.

Therapeutic touch can provide numerous health benefits. Patients suffering from migraines may find that this therapy has a beneficial effect on pain and mood. Likewise, people undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatments have reported reduced pain, nausea, weakness and fatigue by simply being touched.

Therapeutic touch (TT) is an energy healing practice developed in the 1970s from an ancient laying-on-of-hands healing method developed by Dora Kunz and Dolores Krieger. TT works on the theory that humans possess complex energy fields.

It is believed that energy imbalances can impede healing, so trained practitioners strive to restore the flow of energy for a patient’s optimal wellbeing.

Practitioners use a range of techniques during sessions. Some may not make any physical contact at all, while others will move their hands gently within an inch or two of the body.

Therapists usually perform their treatments from a massage table or chair, fully clothed. During the session, you’ll be asked to lie still while music plays. After some quiet contemplation has taken place, the practitioner may begin gently moving their hands in smooth rhythmic motions around several inches of your body.

Ultimately, the aim is to induce a deep state of relaxation in clients, which helps relieve stress and tension. This non-invasive method may also improve sleep quality and reduce anxiety levels.

It has been used to treat cancer, heart disease and burn patients. Studies have demonstrated that it increases circulation and boosts the immune system. Furthermore, it may reduce migraine headaches by relieving stress on the head by increasing blood flow to it.

HT is similar to a massage in that it uses biofield therapy techniques which can reduce pain and the side effects of chemotherapy, radiation and other treatments. It has also proven beneficial for pregnant women and children with autoimmune disorders.

When selecting a therapist, make sure they are an active member of the National Association for Therapeutic Touch and possess at least three levels of training along with supervised mentorship.

Therapeutic touch is a non-invasive energy healing practice based on the belief that all humans possess an innate capacity for self-healing and the capacity to assist others in doing so. It has become widely recognized as an effective alternative therapy.

Massage has long been linked to migraine relief. Which option suits you best depends on your preferences and triggers, but finding a therapist experienced in treating migraines is essential. Some popular modalities include Swedish massage, Thai massage, hot or cold stone therapy and aromatherapy – each proven beneficial in relieving migraine symptoms.
