When you have it, certain sounds can seem unbearably loud, even though people around you don’t seem to notice them. It is also entirely possible to stay under these circumstances and learn to look at them with less negativity. If fluorescent lights bother you, lightly tinted sunglasses or a brimmed hat can help. You may also hear it as a sound or noise sensitivity.

In a noisy environment, earplugs or listening to music on headphones may help some people.

How to treat photosensitivity?

Diseases that affect the eye, such as dilated pupils or light-colored eyes, actually allow too much light to enter the eyes, which is inherently unpleasant. Diagnosing the cause of your symptoms is important because the conditions that cause photophobia are treated differently. While your underlying condition is being treated, it may take days or even longer for your photophobia to improve. Migraines and trigeminal neuralgia cause the eyes and head to become so sensitive that even sensations that are not normally painful, such as touch, sound, smell, and light, can appear unusually unpleasant.

Photophobia is a condition in which bright light or certain types of light literally cause pain.
